چکیده

In recent years, an increasing number of waterfall-type V-shaped processes have been adopted in sites of embedded system development where programs are growing in scale and becoming more complex (Figure 1). In V-shaped processes, verification (called conformance testing) using the actual device is an important process, as is the extraction of requirements, designing, and building. The demand for on-chip debugging to verify a program on an actual device system is thus growing. Due to the adverse effects of noise, conventional development tools only allowed developers to move the microcontroller being tested by several dozen centimeters even when a special cable was used. Therefore, a special prototype board for debugging that was not the actual system needed to be prepared in some cases. Furthermore, the Flash microcontroller used in debugging was also an evaluation chip for verification instead of an actual device, which made it difficult to evaluate the items that should be checked on the actual system. The new embedded emulator, “SPEED-BOX,”we have developed allows remote debugging as far as 10m from the Flash microcontroller that is to be used in the actual system. It achieves this by connecting with one special signal line for debugging. It therefore offers on-chip debugging for small devices and devices that are installed in small spaces where conventional debugging had hitherto been difficult. SPEED stands for Single Port Embedded Emulator Debugger, which is the system designation for our single-wire emulator debugger. The built-in debugging functions of microcontrollers for SPEED-BOX include a real-time RAM monitoring function capable of realtime memory data read and write without CPU stoppage and a tuning function. In addition, while this product acts as an on-chip debugger, it can be utilized in debugging scenes during the actual building processes when detailed tests are conducted, New Products MB2100-01-E

Design and Optimization of High Speed Rayleigh-based Radiocommunication Channel Emulator

In this paper, a Colored Rayleigh Fading Noise Generator (CRNG) model adapted to hardware implementation in FPGA circuit is developed for mobile communication channel emulation. To speed up Rayleigh Noise generation the presented design is based on a reduced complexity 2 order AR filter applied to a High accuracy Box-Muller based White Gaussian Noise. The statistical properties of the designed ...

Marching onwards Procedural synthetic footsteps for video games and animation

Puredata is used to demonstrate a exible and e cient approach to one problem in procedural game audio, that of creating footsteps. A model of ground pressure curves from bipedal movement combined with a synthesis layer and mapping of force to frictional excitement emulates the movement of actors on a surface. The speed and weight of the actor, the material composition of the ground and the work...

Learning a Fast Emulator of a Binary Decision Process

Computation time is an important performance characteristic of computer vision algorithms. This paper shows how existing (slow) binary-valued decision algorithms can be approximated by a trained WaldBoost classifier, which minimises the decision time while guaranteeing predefined approximation precision. The core idea is to take an existing algorithm as a black box performing some useful binary...

Reverse Engineering Anti-Virus Emulators through Black-box Analysis

Anti-virus (AV) programs have traditionally used signature matching in order to detect malware. Malware authors try to evade signature matching by encrypting and compressing malware, also known as packing. Packed malware will be unintelligible on disk, but will unpack itself at run-time to return to its original form. AV’s attempt to exploit this by emulating the malware. AV emulators step thro...

A Fast Hardware/Software Co-Verification Method for System-On-a-Chip by Using a C/C++ Simulator and FPGA Emulator with Shared Register Communication

This paper describes a new hardware/software co-verification method for System-On–a-Chip, based on the integration of a C/C++ simulator and an inexpensive FPGA emulator. Communication between the simulator and emulator occurs via a flexible interface based on shared communication registers. This method enables easy debugging, rich portability, and high verification speed, at a low cost. We desc...
